Makabi Nights packs a punch;

fans root for the Indian cricket team

GOA, PANJIM: The Indian cricket fans following the ICC Cricket World Cup match enjoyed the game in the backdrop of Makabi Nights which set up the tempo for a celebration as India routed England in a sensational game in the last week of October.

The sports frenzy State was also hosting the 37th National Games and tourists and sports fans got enjoyment worth their money.

The Fern Kadamba Hotel at Old Goa ensured the fans enjoyed the match on the giant screen with Makabi and Yagawilde adding a dash of the Goan spirit to the electrifying moment on screen.

“We are happy to host the Makabi Nights at our property with the India cricket team taking on England in the ICC World Cup match, and our guests enjoying every single moment on the giant screen,” said Mr Rajeev Kumar, AGM of The Fern Kadamba Hotel & Spa who is an avid cricket fan.

The wide array of Makabi cocktails was a delight for some as others enjoyed the Yagawilde shots. As the cricket match progressed the Indian team faced a daunting task to bowl on a tricky wicket. The fans at the Makabi Nights erupted with joy as Indian bowlers scalped wickets at regular intervals to edge close to a sensational win.

The bartender kept busy with Makabi and Yagawilde emerging a favourite Goan spirit of the guests present that day.

“The “Funny Tingles” and “Wild Knight” cocktail is excellent. I had to taste the drink before serving and I was pleasantly surprised at the distinct Goan coconut flavour in Makabi which is divine for those enjoying Goa and its culture,” said Rangopalan.

“I have been churning out cocktails but the Makabi coconut white rum is a good base to build a signature cocktail. I have made one for our guest and he liked it. I will promote the Makabi brand along with Yagawilde which is an excellent combination,” informed Rangopalan.

The guests present not only enjoyed a fantastic game of cricket as the Indian bowlers ruled the day with an emphatic win but they also bought the Makabi bottles to celebrate with friends and family.

“The “Wild Knight” may come across to you as a dark night but we spell it with a “K” and you will have a lot of “wild knights” having fun at Makabi Nights. My recommendation is “Serious Trouble” which promises to be one of the best cocktails in town,” informed Mr Mario Sequeira, Director of Tonia Group.

“We had a good time and I could not miss out on mentioning Yagawilde which is light on the palette and has a very distinctive taste. I am buying a couple of bottles for my friends back home,” informed Pravin who was on a visit to Goa.

“ We have churned out some of the best cocktails with India’s best mixologists involved in putting this together,” informed Mario.

“The Tonia Group was established well back in 1971 by my father and we are very proud of our heritage which started with Feni the local drink,” informed Mario.

“I feel today we have arrived with some great brands and are ready to go internationally,” said Mario on an optimistic note.

Goa is well known for its famous Feni but there are a whole lot of brands like Makabi that are geared up to engage the taste buds of Indians all over the country and even international markets.

These brands may be little known yet but are sure to invade the space large brands occupy in the times to come. Makabi has a clear vision to become a leader in the segment of cocktail mixes with its great recipe of coconut white rum.

“Makabi is creativity with Goaness. It was my father’s ambition to give the Goans and tourists something related to coconut. Today Makabi is all set to win the hearts of partygoers.” informed Mario.

India’s top tourist destination Goa is known for its high standard of hospitality indeed expressed in great local produce. Today an emerging Coconut White Rum brand, Makabi and Yagawilde a product of one of Goa’s most reputed liquor manufacturers, Tonia Liquor Industries is all set to grow globally.

The flavourful drink Makabi is a great product coming from the sons of the soil of Goa.

“Our lives are going to change with Makabi Nights! It's more fun nights to party, fun nights to enjoy and fun nights to bring out the essence of Goa,” informed Mario.

 GOA GETS FIRST TECHNOLOGICAL BREAKTHROUGH

FOR SKIN RESURFACING AND REVITALIZATION

Margao, GOA:  Dr Reshu’s Skin Solutions Clinic launched Goa’s first 'AURA' a new technological breakthrough for skin resurfacing & revitalization at the hands of Advocate Kapil Vernekar and Dr Reshu, Dermatologist and Cosmetologist, of  Skin Solutions clinic at Gogol, Margao on Friday.

Also present was Shreya, Practice Development Manager, of Reveal Lasers and Milind Sawant, Zonal Sales Manager, West from Reveal Lasers.

Getting glowing and radiant skin has now become quite easy with the launch of  'AURA' a new technological breakthrough for skin resurfacing and revitalization.

This innovative new technology which is minimally invasive in nature has been introduced for the first time in Goa with its first-ever launch in Margao at Dr Reshu’s Skin Solutions Clinic. The device uses intense radio frequency energy to stimulate the natural collagen-building process of the body.

" One of the most important scientific reasons for glowing skin is cell renewal. It keeps the skin from becoming dull and rough but the pace of renewal decreases as we get older. With the advent of AURA, it has brought about hope for those aspiring to get back their youthful skin”, informed Dr Reshu, Dermatologist and Cosmetologist, of  Skin Solutions clinic at Margao.

Dr Reshu of  Skin Solutions Clinic.

" The treatment involves heating the skin tissue using selective radio-frequency energy. This energy stimulates the growth of collagen, a fibrous protein important in maintaining a youthful look,” added Dr Reshu.

Besides ageing some other factors that alter the speed of the cell renewal process include diet, stress, sleep quality, or hormonal changes. These can result in the accumulation of more dead skin cells thus making the skin duller and depriving it of its healthy sheen or Glow.

Highlighting the procedures, Dr Reshu explained, "During the treatment, a special handpiece delivers RF energy to the skin’s surface. This energy starts a new Regeneration process inside the body and the body’s natural healing process gets initiated. This stimulates the growth of new collagen, which helps to improve the skin’s texture, tone, and elasticity,” informed Dr Reshu.

This new technology has especially been designed for those patients who want highly efficient results in fewer sessions that are safe & comfortable without significant downtime. AURA fits the bill and claims to give smoother, tighter and more youthful-looking skin in 2 to 3 sessions.

Unlike surgical face-lifts, or older-style laser resurfacing, which removes the top layer of skin, a person treated with AURA doesn't have to stay indoors until the face heals rather they can go back to their regular routine immediately after the procedure.

“Reveal Lasers strives for innovations and we ensure to make all our procedures safe and effective with minimal pain and discomfort to the patient. We believe more and more patients should benefit all across the country from our Technological Innovations,” informed Mr Kuntal Debgupta, CEO, of Reveal Lasers, India and SAARC operations.

 Unveiling Physical Therapy

World Physical Therapy Day

Dr Soniya Choudhary

In today`s fast-paced world, where there is so much to do, and so many responsibilities to handle, we often find ourselves dealing with pain, movement challenges, fitness targets or sometimes even an overall feeling of just not being entirely well.

Physical therapy also known as Physiotherapy is the beacon of hope that helps the common man deal with all of these issues and yet its role often remains enshrouded in a cloud of misunderstanding. Often mistaken for a massage or just some exercises, the actual dimensions of physical therapy go far and beyond these popular misconceptions.

Physical therapy intrinsically is a specialised branch of modern healthcare that aims to enhance an individual`s physical well-being, restore optimum functionality and improve overall quality of life.

With a specialised hands-on technique approach and evidence-based practices, a physical therapist focuses on exercises as a mainstay treatment along with electro-analgesic modalities, manual therapy and muscle re-education for the recovery and rehabilitation of a wide range of conditions.

Physical therapy, however, is not just for those recovering from an illness or surgery. Physical therapy is for everyone. Whether you are an office worker struggling with postural issues, a homemaker dealing with persistent nagging pain, an older adult facing imbalance problems or an athlete aiming at performance enhancement, physical therapy can benefit everyone.

From infants to older adults, physical therapists (physiotherapists) structure their treatment plans to suit the specific needs and goals of each individual.  However, despite its beneficial impact, its true essence and scope tend to be overlooked.

As human beings, we are naturally drawn towards simplicity and familiarity. Consequently, it is not surprising that many people conceive it as purely a form of massage or a series of exercises. While these notions are not entirely devoid of truth, they represent only a fraction of what this remarkable field truly has to offer.

Goa, a sun-kissed coastal paradise is known for its inviting beaches and relaxed lifestyle. However, like any other state, it has its own health concerns. One notable fact about Goa is the high prevalence and an ever-increasing rate of lifestyle diseases.

A private healthcare body in its Health Care Abnormality report 2013-14 claimed that people of Goa are at a higher risk of lifestyle diseases due to sedentary lifestyle, decreased physical activity, smoking, high intake of alcohol and unhealthy eating habits. According to the 2019-20 report by the National Health Systems Resource Centre, 43.9% of the total disease burden in Goa is due to morbidity.

Every so often we hear news of cardiac events around us and surprisingly a good proportion of the full figure falls in the age bracket of 35-45 years of age. Physical therapy plays a significant role in addressing most of the health disorders. Beyond healing, physical therapists foster a culture of prevention and performance optimisation. They empower individuals to take charge of their health and achieve their health goals.

Physical therapy as a comprehensive and evolving discipline encompasses a broad spectrum of interventions. These techniques work in harmony to address the unique needs of each individual, targeting not only the symptoms but also the underlying causes of dysfunctions.

One of the most remarkable aspects of physical therapy is its holistic approach towards optimal recovery and maximum restoration of normal functions. For these goals to be achieved, a physical therapist gets to the root cause of the problem rather than just masking the symptoms thus ensuring a long-term recovery and an enhanced sense of well-being for an individual.

As we dive deeper and explore the realm of physical therapy and its scope, it is evident that this discipline represents a multi-faceted approach towards health care. Thus, offering individuals a solution for pain-free physical functioning, improved quality of movement and overall enhanced well-being. It is time we proactively embrace the transformative power of physical therapy (physiotherapy) to take us towards a healthier and more fulfilling life.
